Curcuma longa is also known as turmeric. It is a plant of the ginger family (Zingiberaceae) and has been used as a coloring agent and to protect food products from sunlight. In India, curcuma longa is used as a medicine to reduce the possibility of infection caused by cuts, burns, and bruises.
